The keyboard that changed competitive gaming forever — but is it still worth buying in 2026?
The Wooting software is genuinely in a class of its own. No other keyboard manufacturer comes close to what Wooting has built here. The Wootility software gives you complete control over every aspect of the keyboard — from rapid trigger settings to actuation points on every individual key. It is intuitive, regularly updated, and completely free. If software matters to you — and for competitive gaming it absolutely should — the Wooting 60HE V1 sets the gold standard.
The build quality is decent but not exceptional for the price. The plastic shell is functional and lightweight but does not feel premium in hand. It is the area where the Wooting 60HE V1 shows its age most clearly. The strap included in the box is a nice touch and genuinely useful. Overall the build is solid enough for daily use but enthusiasts expecting a metal or high grade plastic chassis may be disappointed.
This is the biggest weakness of the V1. The default Lekker switches included are no longer considered competitive with current switch offerings. They feel wobbly and have not kept up with the improvements seen in the broader keyboard market. The good news is that Wooting has addressed this in their newer models. If you are buying a V1 you should budget for a switch swap to get the most out of the hardware. The Hall Effect technology underneath is still excellent — it is just the execution of the default switches that lets things down.
The Wooting 60HE V1 packs in the best gaming-focused features of any keyboard on the market. Rapid trigger, analog input, adjustable actuation — these are features that genuinely improve your gameplay and no other brand does them better. However it is held back from a perfect score by some notable omissions. There is no wireless option — no 2.4GHz dongle and no Bluetooth. There is also no volume knob or media controls which are increasingly common at this price point.

The Wooting 60HE V1 is a landmark keyboard that changed what competitive gamers expect from their peripherals. The software and rapid trigger implementation remain best in class and nothing on the market touches it in those areas. However the aging default switches, plastic shell, lack of wireless options and missing features like a volume knob mean it is starting to show its age. If you can find it at a discount it is still an excellent buy. If you are buying new in 2026 you may want to look at the newer Wooting models which have addressed many of these shortcomings. For pure competitive FPS gaming though — it still delivers.
